About Gastrointestinal (GI) Psychology and Gut Focused Therapy:
Psychological interventions for GI conditions are based upon the mind-body connection, the two-way communication shared between the gut and the brain, which influences gut function and digestion. This applies to individuals with GI conditions as well as those with co-occurring depression or anxiety. Treatment targets the enteric nervous system in addition to the central nervous system. My therapy approach includes:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Mindfulness
Gut-Directed Hypnotherapy
Stress Management
Healthy lifestyle practices
Pain psychology interventions
Research and practice recommend a team-based treatment approach for complex and chronic GI conditions. As an independent practicing psychologist, I discuss your care with your gastroenterologist and other health care providers as needed.
I offer gut-directed hypnotherapy to patients who would benefit from this specialized approach. I view hypnotherapy as another evidence-based clinical skill or tool that I have to offer. I provide IBS specific hypnotherapy treatments commonly used in the field and other hypnotherapy approaches in the treatment of GI conditions.
Your health is impacting your quality of life and it's time to get specialized support.
