Resilience is the capacity to cope with stress and adversity. It comes from

believing in yourself and, at the same time, in something bigger than yourself.

Resilience is not a trait that people are born with; it involves behaviors,

thoughts, and actions that can be learned and developed in anyone.

-Lolly Daskal

Resilient Roots Support Group

  • Does your health condition create feelings of frustration, sadness, and isolation?
  • Do you worry about being a burden to others?
  • Are you feeling overwhelmed by appointments, medications, or treatments and wonder how you will ever manage while finding some enjoyment in life?
If any of these statements apply, then the Resilient Roots Support Group may be for you!

The "seeds" for Resilient Roots, a Sequoia Counseling support group for persons living with chronic illness or chronic pain, sprouted during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when this group began facing new challenges to daily living. The vision for this group is to provide information and support to apply lifestyle medicine principles and psychological/behavioral coping strategies to manage and improve chronic illness and pain symptoms. This group can help anyone regardless of the history of your condition or the quality of your symptoms and related impairments.
